I loved this film and story! Of course, I did.. because it featured girls being empowered, cool and creative! YAY~ that is the epitome of what excites me about life! This film should have been much bigger in the box office than it was but I gather it will get rave reviews from DVD watchers! Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie are two stellar actresses and carry the s*&t outta this film! For me personally, the way Kristen carried herself as Joan Jett was entirely bad a$$! I loved the attitude of these girls while playing in the band. More women should grab hold of their metaphorical "c*&ks" in life and show strength and balls. To me, so attractive and cool. I "got it" from the inset to the last scene and enjoyed every minute of this story. It def makes you respect and revere Joan Jett! She was gracious enough to step back although she was the main talent of the Runaways to let Cherie take the spot, and was smart enough to continue and be the lead for the Blackhearts. I just love a cool woman!
There is so much to be said for confidence and conviction and the desire to want to be something and to make it happen! I love 70s style, and a tough, tomboy feel and look is so sexy to me. It says I know who I am, I like it, and I am not falling prey to the way men think women should look and behave. In so many ways, I wish more girls would watch this and find their inner c%&K! YAH! Rock it ...
I give it an 8.
