Brief Interviews with Hideous Men

Wow, the second to end scene in this film is totally intense, and engaging. It made me think. I had no idea that John Krasinski of the office wrote this screenplay with the author of the book, David Foster Wallace, post modern writer, who has since passed! I just picked it based upon the title. Once I view the film, I go to IMDB for all the info. This film was edited in an interesting way, and was edgy and thought provoking. At times, it seemed to be dialogue laden, but it had to be to get the points across clearly. I love Julianne Nicholson and wonder why she isn't in more films. She is a great actress! This film had some substantial talent associated with it, like: Timothy Hutton, Will Arnett, Chris Messina, and of course, John Krasinski! I am shocked and silenced by the ending. At times, I did find it a bit boring, but the end really sealed it for me. We all know a great and impactful ending can literally save a film, and this was the case. Julianne played an academic interviewing men about relationships and how they feel about love and women in an attempt to find out why her boyfriend broke up with her, played by John Krasinski.  Much of it seemed realistic and it definitely resonates. I did like this film now that I sit and reflect. It is heavy, and the editing made it seem more hip and unusual.
I give it a 7.
